Manx Music Festival 2018
Manx Voices took part in a very succesful Manx Music Festival in April 2018 (commonly referred to as the Guild).
Competing in the Open Voice Trio, Angela, Linda and Caroline won with a fabulous rendition of Alexander's Ragtime Band. Two quartets featured in the SSAA class, Only Sisters Allowed and Manx Voices Dreamers - who came joint second in that class. Several members also competed in duet classes.
The ensemble class was a closely fought competition with some lovely singing. Two groups were entered from the choir - with the group singing "Red Boots On" by Bob Chilcott taking the trophy.
Saturday saw the choir competitions, with multiple choirs competing for the Ladies Choir. With a fabulous score and even more fabulous adjudicator comments - we were delighted to win the class and retain the very large trophy, which now adorns Angela's living room for another year.
We took to the stage in the Gaelic class, and again took the win.
The Concert Class is always fabulous entertainment and this year was no exception. The winners of the Class were Meadowside Choral Society with Manx Voices coming a close second.
This year saw a new venture for the choir, and a group took part in the choral speaking. Clearly the years of work as a group singing paid dividents, and they took the trophy in that class too.
Plans are already being discussed for Guild 2019!
